What is Water Intoxication?

Now you might be thinking how to calculate the quantity of water that you can drink daily so that you do not face side effects of drinking too much water? Over-hydration or what you call as water intoxication only happens when you drink a lot of water and your kidneys fail to maintain the body fluids. It is not just drinking excessive water, but how quickly you drink the water also counts. You fall into greater risk of developing water intoxication only when you drink a lot of water and that too within a short period of time. Always remember, the risk is low when you drink the same quantity of water slowly and vice versa.
